The Peninsula Homeless to Housing Task Force was formed in 2005 by a group of people who were concerned about the increasing numbers of homeless in our community.

ABOUT the PH2H Task Force

PH2H goals:

  • Increase solidarity and capacity of PH2H

  • Improve community awareness and understanding of homelessness and affordable housing on the Peninsula

  • Increase affordable housing units in South Surrey and White Rock

  • Improve access to and availability of support services and shelters for people living on the Peninsula who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless

 

The Peninsula Homeless to Housing TaskForce focuses on:

  • Maintaining a Triage Chart of Services listing meals, shower, clothing and shelter services available on the Peninsula

  • Supporting First United Church and OptionsHyland House in providing an extreme weatherresponse shelter

  • Sponsoring Homeless Action Week Events (HAW) in October 

  • Hosting Community Meal during Homeless Action Week

  • Coordinating local volunteer recruitment and participation in Regional Homeless counts (in 2008, 2011 and 2014)

  • Producing a monthly newsletter on issues and events concerning housing and homelessness

  • Collaborating with the Peninsula CommunityFoundation to build the PH2H Food Security Fund to support food access on the Semiahmoo Peninsula
